Who needs a red lips shirt in their closet? THIS GIRL, that’s who! When I saw this fabric on the Girl Charlee website, I squealed with delight! I knew I had to have it and I knew without a doubt that it would become a Sewaholic Renfrew. This is my third Renfrew and it still reigns supreme as one of my favorite patterns. But then again, all of the Sewaholic patterns are my favorite, who am I kidding??
Tasia aka the BOSS of Sewaholic has mad skills -not only her sewing but with producing a pattern. Any beginner would be in heaven with one of her patterns. They are detailed, user-friendly, and just all around awesome. Not to mention the Sewalongs for each pattern that are on her website. This top was one of the first I sewed and as a beginner I appreciated the thoroughness of the drawings and the step-by-step instructions. I learned so much just from sewing this top. And, each subsequent pattern that I have sewn of hers has only increased my sewing skill level. I swear I have added a skill to my “sewing toolbox” with each pattern I’ve made from Sewaholic. You can see a few of my Sewaholic makes here, here, and here.
This pattern is written for knit fabrics. This red lip fabric is a cotton jersey blend with 30% stretch. It’s very comfortable and easy to wear (and matches my daughter’s red boots perfectly!). I sewed up the pattern in a size 6 with no changes and used a small zigzag stitch, which is recommended for knits.
This caboose sits at our local depot and I wanted it for these pictures since it was RED. And also because it reminds me of my Ronald McDonald birthday party when I was a little girl! The closest McDonald’s, back then a 30 mile drive away, (we have our own locally now) had a caboose in the back where they held birthday parties. All my friends and even Ronald McDonald himself was there! I still remember that birthday cake!
Until next time… xoxo Regan (insert lip emoji here)
